As many website says it is not any virus or malware. It updates yahoo softwares like yahoo messenger to its latest version. However you can disable it by disabling it in msconfig. Or you can uninstall it by going to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\yahooupdater. I think unistalling it is a better option. You can update messenger later manually whenever you want.
